Learn how to make a hot toddy, and you'll always have a way to warm up when the weather turns chilly. If you can brew a cup of tea, you can make this exceptionally easy hot cocktail.
To start, brew a cup of strong tea with six ounces of boiling water. You can use a flavored tea such as orange pekoe or another flavor that blends well with lemon and honey, but a plain tea also works just fine.
Pour the tea into a large mug and leave about ¼ empty so you have room for the rest of your ingredients.
Once your tea is poured, add ¾ ounce of honey and stir. You can add more or less to suit your taste, or you can also use simple syrup, pure maple syrup, molasses, or agave.
Add ¾ ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice to your tea. Stir. If you like, you can substitute ¾ ounce of freshly squeezed orange juice.
Use this recipe for a basic hot toddy. From there, you can vary it as desired.
