The Four Horsemen drink is named after the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The drink is very strong, and each of the liquors used in the drink are named after a man whose first name begins with J. The Four Horseman has several variations.
Basic Four Horsemen
The basic recipe for the Four Horsemen features only the four liquors named for men. Serve the drink straight up, without ice.
Ingredients
- ¼ ounce Jim Beam bourbon
- ¼ ounce Jack Daniels whiskey
- ¼ ounce Johnnie Walker scotch
- ¼ ounce Jose Cuervo gold tequila
Instructions
Pour all liquors into a lowball glass and serve it straight up.
Variations
The drink has several variations.
Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
This drink uses the same combination of liquors, but also adds Jagermeister herbal liqueur, pineapple juice, and sweet and sour. Serve it shaken on ice and strained into a highball glass.
Ingredients
- ½ ounce Jim Beam bourbon
- ½ ounce Jack Daniels whiskey
- ½ ounce Johnny Walker scotch
- ½ ounce Jose Cuervo gold tequila
- ½ ounce Jägermeister
- 1 ounce pineapple juice
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- Ice
Instructions
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the bourbon, whiskey, scotch, tequila, Jägermeister, pineapple juice, lime juice, and syrup.
- Add the ice and shake.
- Strain into a highball glass filled with ice.
Four Horsemen in a Boat
This drink adds Grand Marnier to the original recipe.
Ingredients
- ¼ ounce Jim Beam bourbon
- ¼ ounce Jack Daniels whiskey
- ¼ ounce Johnnie Walker scotch
- ¼ ounce Jose Cuervo gold tequila
- ¼ounce Grand Marnier
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in an old fashioned glass and serve it straight up.
Four Horsemen Go to Sea
In this variation, Captain Morgan rum makes an appearance.
