Jager Fizz

Jägermeister has a pleasant, lightly sweet herbal anise (licorice) flavor that lends itself well to many creative cocktails. Try these original Jägermeister drinks, enjoy a classic Jägermeister cocktail, or create your own at your next party.

1. Jäger Fizz

A fizz is a variation of one of the oldest types of mixed drinks, the sour, which combines 1 part each of sweet and sour to 2 parts of strong (a distilled spirit). In this recipe, the Jägermeister stands in as the sweet element. A fizz differs from a sour because it adds a sparkling element at the end. This light, fizzy Jägermeister cocktail is a great summer refresher. It makes one cocktail.

Ingredients

  • ¾ ounce lemon juice

  • ¾ ounce Jägermeister

  • 1 ounce London dry gin
  • Ice
  • 4 ounces club soda
  • Lemon slice
  • Mint sprig

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the lemon juice, Jägermeister, and gin.
  2. Add the ice and shake to chill.
  3. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.
  4. Add the club soda and stir.
  5. Garnish with lemon slices and a mint sprig.

2. Jäger Nectar Cocktail

Washing the glass first with a small amount of absinthe strengthens the anise flavor of the Jagermeister in this tasty martini-style cocktail. It makes one drink.

Jager nectar martini

Ingredients

  • 1 lime wedge
  • 2 tablespoon superfine sugar
  • 1 barspoon absinthe
  • Ice
  • ¾ ounce Jägermeister
  • ¾ ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce peach juice
  • ½ ounce amaretto liqueur

Instructions

  1. Run the lime wedge around the edge of a chilled martini glass to wet the rim. Set the wedge aside for garnish.
  2. Spread the sugar in a thin layer on a shallow plate and dip the wet rim into it to rim the glass.
  3. Rinse the glass with absinthe, swirling it around to coat the glass and discarding any leftover absinthe.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine the ice, Jagermeister, lime juice, peach juice, simple syrup, and amaretto. Strain into the prepared glass.
  5. Garnish with the lime wedge.

3. Tropical Stag

Substituting Jägermeister for Other Ingredients in Cocktails

Jägermeister is similar to other liqueurs, so you can make a direct substitution in some mixed drinks. The flavors may be slightly different with the substitution, but it can make for an interesting twist on a classic cocktail.

  • Jägermeister has similar flavor profiles to gin, although Jägermeister is sweeter. Adding it to a gin-based cocktail in place of about a quarter to a half of the gin can create a sweeter, interesting drink.
  • The flavors are also similar to absinthe, although slightly sweeter, so you can substitute there, as well.
  • Cocktails that contain Benedictine - such as the Singapore Sling - may also work since Jägermeister has similar flavor profiles. Opt for a direct substitution.

What to Mix With Jägermeister

Looking to make up your own Jägermeister drink? These mixers can help get you started. Jägermeister adds both a sweet and slightly bitter element, as well as complex herbal flavors, so it may mix well with a number of mixers.

  • Coffee
  • Red Bull
  • Apple juice or apple cider

  • Lemon-lime soda
  • Ginger ale
  • Ginger beer
  • Club soda
  • Cranberry juice
